The NAUI Scuba Certification Path

Regardless of your dive location or experience level, most scuba outfitters make holding a scuba certification mandatory before they will allow you passage on a trip. Diving certifications promote underwater education and safety practices while reducing the amount of underwater hazards and accidents. The vast amount of diving courses available for first-time and experienced individuals can be staggering when determining which course to sign up for. Regardless of your skill level or experience, obtaining a NAUI scuba certification is an excellent first step in the right direction.

NAUI Scuba Certification Diving Courses

NAUI is home to a huge variety of recreational, technical, leadership, and specialty courses to accommodate people of all ages and skill levels. These courses are specifically structured to further educate their students while perfecting their established diving techniques. At NAUI, diver safety is a huge priority. All of their diving courses include a segment about underwater safety and what to do in case of emergencies, just in case a foul situation ever does arise unexpectedly.

The most popular courses at NAUI scuba certification path are the recreational courses. This category of general-level education courses include developed classes for kids through master divers. For true novices, the NAUI Junior Skin Diver and Junior Scuba Diver courses are designed to give you the general skills to complete a supervised dive. Course participants are expected to complete training and two supervised open water dives before they’re allowed to proceed to a more advanced course. These two classes are geared towards building your under-water confidence and familiarizing yourself with your gear. These junior diver classes are open to everyone age 8 and older, regardless of swimming experience.

The real work and education begins, however, with the NAUI experienced scuba diver course. Designed for divers with some experience but no certification, this course offers open water training and a diver certification upon completion. This course is perfect for gaining confidence in open water, understanding how to operate your gear, familiarizing yourself with safety hazards, and learning what to do in the event of an emergency. Once completed, divers will be given their diver certification card, allowing them to participate in unsupervised dives across the world. To enroll for this course, all divers must be 15 years old and provide proof of a minimum of 25 open water dives.
