Facts about Technical Diving You Should Know

The conventional limit exceeded by the form of scuba diving specially the recreational diving’s bottom time and depth is known as tech diving. It is also known as Technical Diving.

The Technical and Recreational Scuba Diving can be distinguished with lots of differences. According to many people, there are not any obvious differences between Tech and Recreational Diving. They think that ‘diving is diving’ and it is useless to divide it into different types. In this article, we would tell you about some differences between Tech and Recreational Diving. Take a look at them.

Recreational Scuba Diving

A diving that allows direct ascent at the pre-determined speed and controlled constant to the surface is known as Recreational Scuba Diving. For instance, you won’t need to wait on the way up and to stop as well.

Great safety for the diver gives straight access to the surface for the divers. A diver can anytime exit the water by immediately by aborting in case of any issue. In this way, there won’t be any chances of getting trapped in the water.

Tech Diving

There is a need of multiple pauses or stops to the level of saturation to permit-off gassing in the ascent. Due to this, the bubbles won’t be formed to distract the diver. It may involve the surface’s physical obstruction alternatively i.e. to dive in the ship wreck or cave.

It is not possible to get direct access to the surface. Whilst de-situation occurs, the diver is trapped under the water for certain duration in the decompression. Ascend directly to the surface and inability to immediately abort the dive shows that diver can deal with any contingencies and capable to face any problem while diving. This situation can be a dangerous for the tech diving.

The Clear Difference

There is a clear-cut difference between Technical and Recreational Diving. The ‘No Decompression Limit’ (NDL) is taught to abide to the Recreational Divers. It still allows direct access to the surface with the boundary of saturation.

There is no such boundary for the tech divers. There is no NDL and they intend to accomplish their de-saturation during ascent. There is a quite grey area that shows the borderline between both dives. These days, the divers can control and calculate their dives with the different technological aids i.e. pc dive planning software and dive computers. The boundary is still provided and the aids don’t limit divers to an NDL. It depends on the calculating algorithm used and specific computer that two identical dives could be non-deco or deco.

The frequency of scuba diving equipment malfunction never develops strong argument to a no-stop ascent profile for abiding. This equipment is very reliable. The deeper and longer dives are permitted by many divers that now use large cylinders to store gas-if they were in need to sufficient gas to complete stops. Divers can complete decompression’s format increasingly shallower depths through staging their dives due to multi-level computers profile.

Characteristics of Technical Diving

Self Sufficiency: for the safety and enjoyment, technical divers usually dive in teams. They remain prepared for aborting the dive.

Redundancy of Gear: backups of all vital life support equipment are required in tech diving. There is a need to carry two timing devices, two depth gauges and two breathing systems. In order to deal with gear problems independently, technical divers carry redundant equipment.

It is necessary for you to take proper technical dive training before starting to do it. Some tips that need to consider before its training are given below:

  • Hyperbaric centerYou need to gain experience at each level. It is necessary to learn every step with proper experience. In this way, you can become an expert in tech diving.
  • Choose the best instructor or trainer for the technical dive training. In this way, you can learn great tips and proper method of diving.
  • Take your time while practicing it. There is no need to get hurry. The more you practice, it will help you to become an expert diver. Therefore, you can give even period of one year for practicing tech diving. You can also learn it in few months but practice would make you perfect in it. It requires regular practice and definitely lots of patience as well.

If you are a tech-diver, please let us know about your experience. Your comments will be more than welcome.

I’ve always been a little scared of diving. I am a good swimmer but have great difficulty opening my eyes underwater, not because of the chlorine, rather the expanse of the water. I’ve come to the conclusion I must be agoraphobic as far as an expanse of water is concerned. My husband and I are going to New Zealand next year and I would dearly like to take the plunge (forgive the pun) and explore some of the many places to snorkel or even better be brave enough to actually dive. The underwater wildlife looks amazing on the tv documentaries and I would love to see it for myself. This site has now re-awakened this desire and hopefully we can find somewhere in NZ where we can be guided and be safe whilst diving. Ches

Diving is something i have never done but I love all kinds of fish in their own environments and the thought of diving to see them would be a real thrill for me.

    Well done,

    Hey,
Very informative article. I am tempted to start diving, but it seems that it needs some proper preparation. The scuba diving sounds like a better option for a beginner. Which would you recommend?
    Cheers,
